Driving decarbonization

USA DeBusk strives to protect our environment by mitigating the carbon footprint of our own operations and that of our customers. These efforts include measures to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, eliminate or repurpose waste streams, and improve asset integrity to drive operational efficiencies and end-product resourcefulness.

Highlights of recent activities

  • Advances in emission control processes and equipment to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and comply with air quality regulations. These techniques mitigate hazardous gases and eliminate or reduce the release of volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere.
  • Continued advances in automated non-entry tank cleaning systems that allow removal and treatment of effluent in closed-loop processes that prevent venting of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, eliminate spill risks, and promote effective wastewater treatment by our clients. Our material processing service line is used to recover and recycle hydrocarbon resources and reduce hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, improving capacity on a constrained domestic landfill footprint.
  • Expansion and improvements in surface preparation standards with a service that offers a sustainable alternative to sandblasting. This service dramatically reduces solid waste for disposal, improves job site safety by eliminating silica dust clouds, eliminates the need for plastic jobsite containment enclosures, and minimizes the amount of water used to perform and clean up after a project.
  • Concentrated growth towards our Pipeline Pigging services which provide integrity solutions to operators of essential pipeline infrastructure. These integrity solutions improve our customer’s asset efficiency and play a big role in operational, environmental and safety compliance.
  • The addition of a closed-loop filtration option for pigging and decoking services. The system operates continuously during the decoking process to remove and capture entrained particulates from the effluent and provides a continuous supply of clean water for nonstop decoking.
  • Pigging and decoking services use Tier 4F emissions-compliant pumper engines.
  • Catalyst handling services enable clients to recover and reuse valuable catalyst, reducing landfill waste. Robotic operations reduce venting of vessels to the atmosphere during cleaning.
  • USA DeBusk has engineered and added purpose-built equipment to de-inventory and decontaminate essential process infrastructure without venting or draining contents to the environment.
  • USA DeBusk provides industrial cleaning services to support waste-to-energy providers, who use advanced processes to generate power from waste that would otherwise be sent to landfills. In doing so, they reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane, that would otherwise be emitted from landfills.
  • USA DeBusk has played a pivotal role in multiple refinery to renewable conversion projects. Our services were required in a meaningful way during several conversions, and we expect the service need to continue once the renewable plants become operational.

As direct donors and volunteers, as well as partners with clients in their charitable efforts, we support nonprofit organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
  • In January 2022, USA DeBusk announced the formation of the Taylor Whitley USA DeBusk Scholarship Foundation. The mission of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is to raise funds and award grants and scholarships to children of USA DeBusk employees attending universities, community colleges, and trade schools. These scholarships support academic excellence and encourage students who exemplify the philosophy of “Showing Up”— a phrase coined by former USA DeBusk executive Taylor Whitley and defined as the extraordinary act of making a difference in someone else’s life by valuing them more than yourself.For the 2022-2023 academic year, the Taylor Whitley USA DeBusk Scholarship Foundation awarded over $204,000 worth of scholarships to 22 deserving students. The foundation has established a goal of funding $800,000 in scholarships through 2025.

USA DeBusk is a privately held company owned by a combination of employee managers and outside investors. The Company has continually evolving policies and its executive team and board place emphasis on the review of those policies so that the organization can continue to scale the business in a professional and responsible manner with the proper controls.
