Safety Absolutes

“Safety Absolutes” is our carefully selected list of essential rules. We believe if every employee approaches each job with these in mind, we promote safer outcomes for all.

  1. Tampering/bypassing safety devices
  2. Fall protection standard
  3. Confined space access and entry control
  4. Violation of energy isolation procedure
  5. Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; operating equipment without proper authority or qualifications
  6. Alcohol and drug policy and procedure violation
  7. Unauthorized modification of scaffolding or work platform
  8. Violation of permit requirements
  9. Blatant disregard for safety barriers and precautions

Each of our Safety Absolutes has an associated pictogram. To help make them personal and memorable, our pictograms were created by children of our employees in an art contest. These Safety Absolutes and pictograms are displayed on large banners at every branch location and talked about in every monthly safety meeting.

At first glance, our company badge (right) looks like any other badge. But when you scan the QR code and click the link, you’ll see a dramatic difference.

That convenient QR code provides the employee’s current training record, a company phone directory, the safety professional contact list, COVID communications, water cut cards, USA DeBusk handbooks and much more.

It serves as a resource for employees and customers alike. Within seconds, a badge scan by a customer during an audit verifies, on the spot, whether an employee has the current training to perform an activity.

The system allows real-time migration of safety council training from across the nation into our training database and onto our badges.

There’s no more reliance on manual updates to employee training records and no need to inspect multiple badges for training verification.


EHS Management System

Our electronic EHS Management System is a “one-stop-shop” for all safety needs. It is application based and can be accessed from any mobile device.

The real time dashboard gives users the ability to see a wealth of company safety statistics, including:

  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Safety meeting sign-in sheets
  • Recognition program

Stop Work Obligation

The foundation of our safety program is a commitment to the “Stop Work Obligation” process as displayed on the back of every employee badge with the CEO signature.

Our approach is different from the commonly used “Stop Work Authority.” That guideline simply fails to make it personal.

Everyone at USA DeBusk—from senior leaders to technicians in the field to office personnel— has the obligation to stop work and intervene when necessary.

It is our moral obligation to look out for one another and assure everyone is afforded the opportunity to go home healthy and without injury.
